Tantalum solid‑electrolyte

In comparison with electrolytic capacitors, tantalum solid-electrolyte capacitors have more stable parameters and need less aging time. Besides, this capacitor type is suitable for operation at less than rated voltage values and that helps to extend the guaranteed service life.

Tantalum solid-electrolyte capacitors are used in special airborne and ground communication equipment, devices, functioning in severe climatic conditions and higher mechanical load.

Working temperature range: from -60°С up to +85°С; from -60°С up to +125°С, from -60°С up to +175°С

In comparison with other capacitor types solid-electrolyte capacitors show the highest operation time.

To extend operation period, it is preferable to use resistance (min 3 Ohm per 1 V of working voltage) between a power supply and a capacitor.

Main components of tantalum solid-electrolyte capacitor

slug, produced from tantalum powder;

Ta2O5, electrochemically formed on slug surface, performs as a dielectric;

MnO2, solid semiconductor, produced via pyrolitic decomposition of manganese nitrate, performs as a cathode.

Further coatings provide target values of dielectric loss tangent and Z due to ohmic contacts between anode, cathode and capacitor terminals.
